The first step in remote desktop access is to connect to UGA VPN. You can map a UGA VPN server to your home PC. From there, you can access your Department Shared Drive and use that to access shared files. The process for this step is relatively simple. Here’s how:
Remote Access VPN
If you are trying to access your work desktop from off-campus, you will need to connect to UGA VPN. This allows you to map your home computer to the campus network, and use the shared file server to access your UGA email, files, and calendar. The VPN can also be used for other secure services such as file sharing and printing. To get started, visit vlab.uga.edu and download the appropriate app.
The UGA Cisco AnyConnect VPN is a two-step authentication solution. To authenticate, you will need to enter ArchPass, UGA’s two-step login solution powered by Duo. If you are using a MAC, you will need to contact OTIS or download UGA OneDrive for Business. For more information, visit the GSU IT website. This will guide you through the installation process.
Office 365
You must connect to the UGA VPN first before you can access your work desktop remotely. The UGA ArchPass is required if you’re accessing sensitive University systems. Alternatively, you can map your home computer to the UGA ArchPass account. Follow the instructions below to connect to the UGA VPN. If you’re not able to connect to the UGA ArchPass, you will need to log out and turn off your home computer.
After you’ve created a UGA VPN account, you must download the AnyConnect client. You cannot install the AnyConnect client on campus, so you must do it from home. You can download the AnyConnect client from MyDownloads, located in the Technology Resources tile in MyGS. Install it and sign in. You may also need to contact UGA’s third-party support team. This process will help you connect to UGA VPN in Office 365.
Cisco AnyConnect VPN
If you are new to the VPN industry, you may be wondering how to connect to a Cisco AnyConnect VPN. Here are a few quick steps. Before you start, be sure to read up on the features of Cisco AnyConnect and Duo Security. Once you’ve completed this, you can start configuring your AnyConnect VPN. You can view Cisco’s comprehensive guide to this VPN here. However, before you install this new program, you should make sure that your current VPN configuration is compatible with the AnyConnect VPN protocol.
You can also configure anyConnect to use a certificate from a PEM formatted file store. PEM file certificates are stored on a remote file system. AnyConnect can use these files to verify the authenticity of a certificate. If your AnyConnect certificate has expired, it can warn you to obtain a new one. You can also specify a default certificate. These settings are available in the AnyConnect profile.
Duo-powered ArchPass
The two-step authentication solution Duo-powered ArchPass offers increased security for UGA student accounts. The ArchPass service is available for all UGA students. To sign up, students will need their UGA MyID and password, and will receive a verification text message or phone call. Once enrolled, students can manage their ArchPass devices from the Self-Service Portal. The Help Desk can provide assistance if necessary. For more information, visit vlab.uga.edu.
